Deloitte invites you to our Public-Private Partnership seminar, a pivotal event to share ideas on successful public and private partnerships in water and sanitation infrastructure.

A key driver for economic recovery in South Africa is infrastructure development, and a strong public-private partnership is needed to achieve this. Deloitte is committed to fostering collaboration for increased private sector participation in the energy, water, and sanitation industry.

We recognise that the establishment of a programme to support PPP projects, such as the one being established by the Water Partnership Office (WPO) is an important step in creating a robust Public Private Partnership (PPP) or a Private Sector Participation (PSP) portfolio and enabling environment for water and sanitation projects. As the portfolio of projects in the WPO is still at early stages, Deloitte will host a seminar to facilitate engagement between key stakeholders in water and sanitation PPPs to discuss various topics which include:

  • Structuring bankable projects and the suitable risk allocation, including water projects where municipalities are not credit-worthy.
  • Experience to date on early-stage water projects.
  • Current and upcoming PPP legislation and regulation impacting the water sector.
  • Strengthening institutional capacity within government's procuring institutions.

The seminar will provide a platform for Government to share its thoughts on challenges and opportunities for PSP in water and sanitation, including the role of the WPO. The private sector will have an opportunity to better understand the role of WPO and government's expectations from private sector, as well as provide input on addressing barriers to success based on private sector's needs and global leading practices.
