https://csir.co.zaMonique le Roux is a senior researcher and electrical engineer with the CSIR Energy Centre.
She has over 16 years of experience in power systems engineering with a specific focus on the grid connection and operation of variable energy generation.
She started her career with Eskom as an Operations Engineer responsible for grid management and operations activities before being appointed as a Senior Engineer in Network Planning where she was responsible for the grid connection of all new renewable energy plants.
Monique also worked in the private sector for several years where she oversaw the grid planning and grid connection of over 1GW of new generation plant.
Her most recent research with the CSIR is focused on national grid planning and grid stability with the introduction of large-scale new generation sources.
She also works closely with various municipalities and government and non-governmental entities to ensure future energy security.
She holds a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Stellenbosch University and a MSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town.
